It wasn't easy getting a picture with my camera and a squirming puppy. I took my dog to the vet and he said it could be a few things, but said it was most likely a contact allergy and gave her Prednisone. The pigment is gone! Will it ever return?

So what else could it be? My dog is 8.5 months old and about a week into her first heat. The vet didn't think this was related.

Haha, my guy looked EXACTLY like that... he had to smell EVERYTHING as a pup and got it from scratching his nose/lips on rough surfaces. It eventually went away.

Are her food & water bowls made of plastic by any chance?

All of her dishes are stainless steel. The patches seem to be getting smaller now, so hopefully it's nothing to fuss over.

I would absolutely rule out Lupus.
