I have read all the posts I can find on mixing the two.

I came away with not mixing the two at the same meal, and make sure the raw meal is a balanced full meal.

Right now I am feeding our girl who is 52 lbs (year old) a 100% raw diet, she is to thin and I need to put a few lbs on her. When I have raised her food amount she gets loose stools. The last couple days I have kept her meals the same, and added one cup of Natures Variety Instinct in the am. She only gets fed once a day RAW at night before bed. She is getting 2.6% of 65 lbs, with a 45%RMB, 50%MM, 5%OM breakdown. She had done great on this. She right now is getting a variety of about 5 protien sources and will have more added in the coming weeks. I feed green tripe 5oz a week as part of her MM. She also gets Vit E and fish pills (Omega 3) daily. If I continue to add the cup of kibble in the am, is there anything I should do different? The only change I have noticed is she has a bowel movement in the AM where before it was only on her nightly walk. She is a very active girl. Her poops seem fine with the kibble added, and I just thought it would be a good way to add a couple pounds while making sure she was getting everything she needed. She is eating the kibble great. Thoughts or suggestions would be great.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeding raw and kibble in the same meal if that's what you want to do. This is another one of the internet myths.

Thanks Elaine,

Do you think I should change the amount of RAW she getting, or if her poop seems okay just stick with what we are doing and if she puts on to much weight cut back?

Before you were feeding kibble, were you only feeding one meal a day? If so that could be the reason for the loose stool. If she eats kibble and raw fine, stay with it and see if it helps. She is clear of parasites? Maybe some digestive enzymes will help her as well.

She is clear of parasites and yes I only feed one meal a day of RAW. I feed two meals when we started but moved to one to allow more of a mental stimulation when she was feeding. The bigger meal forced her to chew more and work more for her meal. She was just spayed last week and the vet said she was on the thin side but would much rather her be there then on the heavy side. In the last week since her spay she looks to have lost some weight. She will start to work more (play) now that weather is starting to cool down. Right now she gets about 1.5-2 hours every day of walking, half the time no leash. She also gets her play time around the home. We walk her first thing in the AM and in the evenings. Alot of mountain hikes or off leash dog park time. Thanks for everyone's comments, I think we will keep adding the cup of kibble in the morning and see how things go.
