HELP! We have had Raven since September and thought she was quirky. I started doing some research because she wasn't growing out of her quirks and found hip dysplasia. I immediately knew this was the problem I got her into the vet the next day and 400 dollars 2 meds and xrays later I find out my perfect beautiful baby needs surgery. We waited 5 days for a surgeon to look at the films and they said she is not a candidate for replacements she has to have FHOs one hip wait 6 weeks then the other. Does anyone have advice, suggestions recommendations? I want to make sure we are making the best decision she is so young and has her whole life. I have watched you tube videos, but I haven't seen much on bilateral hip FHO long term results. Please tell me someone has had this done and can tell me I'm just a crazy dog mom she will be fine. We love her so much I would hate for her to not be able to play with our other dog and 4 kids like she has been.

Sorry you are dealing with this :( I did have a dog that looked significantly "out" and our vet advised waiting until maturity because things could change. We opted to not to look into it further "yet" because he was very active and agile. When signs started to show at around age 4, other more serious problems were coming to light and well, HD was least of his problems. We had to pout him down for unrelated reasons.

He was a rescue and had temperament issues, so no real recourse with a breeder for any of his issues .

Is yours a rescue? If not are you in contact with breeder over this and what have they said?
