UGH...it really needs to stop raining on the VA coastal area. I used to have a decent lawn in my back yard. Then we got Ziva. She loves to put her nose to the ground and track. And, we have moles so then we got this...

Then the rain started and now I have this....

I had to cover the back yard with straw so my house isn't covered in muddy clay. I still need more straw. Yikes! It's going to be along winter.

Is it just me or does anybody else have this problem?

Ugh, YES! My one beautiful back yard is now a mud pit. I put down shavings until I could transport some straw, but we play fetch back there and the skidding makes even straw difficult to keep in place.
I'm cleaning my carpets twice a week because of all the mud!

I don't know which is worse we have sand and mud. I try to wipe it off yet I find tons of sand piles and gsd hair mixed in all over my floor, I feel as thought I'm at the beach yuck. I can sweep all day long and still find tons of sand.

We play with the flirt pole on the back yard. I understand the skidding issue. After we play a have redistribute the straw.
My carpet cleaner went kaput on me. It's like 20 years old but I loved it. It's an old Bissell power steamer (the one you connect to the faucet and always have hot water). DH has tried to fix it. Need to try it and see if it works :fingerscrossed:. I really need to clean my carpets again(would be third time since mid nov). I love my puppy but she certainly is a lot of work. Good thing she gives good kisses :)

Or does this...

Ahhh I'm at an apartment, so I don't even have a yard, when it rains here, I get to get Lara and myself soaked multiple times a day ;) I'm envious of your muddy patch!

first step would be to get rid of the moles.
Have been trying to get rid of the pesky buggers for 2 years. No luck. Caught/killed 5 last year. None so far this year. The entire neighborhood is infested with them. We have 3 professional landscapers that live in our neighborhood (2 on my street). Even they can't get a handle on the mole infestation.
I am open to suggestions on how to combat the problem.

Aww... I couldn't imagine trying to keep up with a Shepherds energy without a yard. especially in bad weather. I know a lot of people manage just fine but I honestly went nuts recently when we visited my daughter for 5 days. She lives in a condo. when it rained it wasn't much fun. Thank heavens there was a park within walking distance for the sunny days.
