It absolutely never fails. If I enter a trial in Milwaukee it is guaranteed to snow!!! So today Star and I drove 150 miles roundtrip, white-knuckled all the way, with something like 7-8 inches coming down to a rally trial. It was worth it because she finished her RAE. It took a total of 29 Q's from Novice to the RAE, countless hours on the road, and I don't even want to start calculating entry fees. But it's done and she is now officially retired from obedience, making today somewhat bittersweet. They had beautiful title ribbons (and title ribbons are very rarely offered in rally around here) so that was a nice touch since it will likely be her last one.

She's not completely retired from sports, now we will have more time for tracking, which she loves. But for tonight she's taking a nap with a belly full of peanut butter cookies.

Congrats Sandy! Glad you made it there and back safely. Pictures?

JD is 13 and rapidly nearing retirement. I'd love to get his APDT ARCH. He needs 3 double Qs and we have one less try at it this year since I'll be out of town for my club's June trial.

There's a trial next weekend in Columbus but I nearly fainted when I saw their entry fees. I was also worried about the weather, sure that if I sent in my entry that it would snow or ice so badly that I couldn't get there. Luckily they are accepting Day of Show entries, so if the weather cooperates I'll go on Sunday.

I could see how it could be a bittersweet day. All those hours on the road (whiteknuckled nonetheless!), all of the breathless moments outside the ring, the joyful & sometimes frustrating moments training . . . and every bit of that time spent in the company of one fine dog.

Sincere congratulations to you both on all of your accomplishments.

I was wondering the same thing. Sorry I missed this Sandy. You have a way with taking "rejects" and helping them reach their full potential.

Thanks everyone! Sorry for not responding to this thread earlier!

Now that Star and Kayto both have their RAE's, Rio is my current rally victim - lol! Actually he's enjoying it, I think he really missed going to shows. Back to WI this weekend, Janesville this time. I'm sure it'll snow.

My record remains intact. I swear, the National Weather Service should check my rally calendar.

Rio is entered in a rally trial today in Racine, WI. Second day of Spring, right? And we're getting 8 inches of snow! It's pitch-white outside, visibility is close to zero! And of course, the worst band of snow is from my house to the trial site.
The kennel club is on some backroads in the middle of nowhere.

Needless to say I didn't go. Very disappointing. At this rate, I wonder if it will be safe to enter a trial in June???

Well t least Star has her RAE ( I know cause I saw it in the review) . Perhaps she is paying off the weather man so Rio can't usurp her??

Or it's payback at Rio for tearing up her ribbons.

Oh yes he did. He somehow found her box, opened it and tore up a few. Damage wasn't too bad, I was able to tape them back together.
