Stormy is a 6 month old GSD female, on first night with me at 8 weeks old would snuggle up beside me and sleep all night long. I would keep my door closed because of older dog in house. Then when she was 5 months old, left the door open one night and she got in bed in den and now will not get back in my bed. If I call her in my room and shut the door she throws herself against the door and howls. Den is not a problem just puzzled why she all of a sudden doesn't want to sleep in my bed anymore. From what I read on here most dogs want to get in Mom's bed. Any thoughts?

Ava did that for a short time at about the same age. I stopped letting her on my bed whenever she wanted and rarely invited her she had to get permission first. Now that is where she wants to be because it now has a higher value....a bit of reverse psychology.

We did the same thing as Besty. As soon as i realized my dogs were getting more use out of my bed then i was, i made a new rule: No pups on the bed unless mom says so!" Now they will sit at the side of my bed, with one paw in the air, and give me the look, and i just give in. But they know better then to be on the bed if i dont allow it. A few times if im gone most of the day, i come home to Mya laying on my pillow, and the second i look at her she drops her head and jumps down, knowing shes in trouble.

I wouldn't worry about it to much, she may just be entering a new phase and wanting to test her freedom in the house. Mya got like that around that age, where she would find the most random places to sleep, that sometimes i had to look for her in the morning!
