Puppy food for Deja; coincidence?

952 Views 15 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  wolfy dog
I came across a good deal for Eagle Pack Puppy Food for large and giant breeds and decided to buy it since it's a good brand and kibble is only a part of their diet. Well, I have been feeding this for two weeks now and Deja (9.5 years) seems to be much more active and more crazy intense like she was when she was younger. Coincidence?

She’s a puppy again.
I wish that would be possible, even dealing with her as landshark would be great. I didn't know her as a pup and still feel like I missed out on that stage.
Since puppy food has different macros, maybe that’s what Deja needed. I would check the difference between the puppy kibble vs adult kibble. Maybe you can reflect the difference in the raw foods as well? I’m glad Deja is enjoying the puppy food.

What do you mean by 'macros'? I feed raw from scratch so it is not really consistent although all my dogs so far have been doing great on this. Adding more kibble to her diet was an idea, based on a gut feeling. Nothing changed until that bag of puppy food. It will hard to research the other l kibbles as I have always switched good quality brands.

Protein - Carb - Fat percentages. I believe puppy food is different compared to adult food. I would just compare the nutrition between the two bags and see what differences are there. Maybe it might show she does better with slightly more protein or carbs etc. I hope you find something and that Deja continues to feel great!

From what I recall, puppy food has more protein and fat. But I’m sure it depends on what you’re feeding. I’m not sure how it works with puppy vs all life stages vs “normal” vs senior.

I am going to do that. I just threw all the spent bags away but will take them out of the garbage bin.

Hope you find an answer from these bags! The things we do for these dogs 😊

I looked at the fat and protein % of the last 5 brands of kibble I fed her. This puppy food for giant breeds has 23% protein and 12% fat, slightly lower than the other brands for adults. Hard to imagine that this makes so much difference.

The mystery continues! Maybe it’s the vitamin pack or ingredients used. I guess you’re stuck using that kibble!

The following was the reply from the company when I asked about this sudden change in her; "Puppy food typically has more calories, fat, and protein than adult food, which could affect energy levels. "
I cannot count these percentages since she gets mostly raw from scratch. Could be certain vitamins and minerals. I just enjoy her new energy, especially when she ran into my legs on an out-of-control sliding stop when I opened a door to the yard :ROFLMAO:
