I have an 8 week old male German Shepherd puppy and he is falling all the time! He is constantly rolling, falling and tripping. At times it seems like he is falling on purpose. Is this normal? Thank you!

Welcome to the board!

When we first brought Elmo home at 10 weeks old, he used to just fall down sometimes. We would hear a loud thump and wonder what happened. It was just Elmo plopping onto the floor. Whenever he was tired, he would just fall down wherever he was. He is still very loud when he sits down but it's not as uncontrolled as it was when he was a puppy. He has never rolled or tripped though.

I would talk to the breeder and/or vet also. I wonder if some puppies are just clumsy.

When I got Kayla at 10 weeks, she would trip over her own feet and sometimes would just flop down where ever she felt like...it could be he is just clumsy. I really think for your own peace of mind maybe a vet trip is in order..Good luck

Our puppy falls ALL THE TIME!! It is almost like her legs get going and her body is a few steps behind and she tumbles and rolls. I dont think she completely realizes that she has back legs yet either. When she starts going up the steps she gets too excited and forgets to bring her back legs up with her and ends up stumbling and smacking her face on the step. My Doberman had done this a lot, too. I think because Dobie puppies have such long legs and it takes them a while to grow into them. My GSD puppy does better when she is not in such a hurry to get somewhere, and like I mentioned my Dobie did this too, so I have not been too concerned about it. I just enjoy it as part of puppy humor.
