Okay, no chicken for chicken-itchy Grimm tonight. I used ground beef for the MM, blob of defrosting green tripe
, salmon oil with E, yogurt, etc..... but with chicken gone I am turning to turkey for the RMBs right now. No necks are currently available, so I found turkey wings. They are the size of my elbow!
I only gave him half a wing, cos they were so collossal (think: Rodan).

These bones seem sharp and splintery-hard, not like chix bones of course.. but: Can they puncture him inside?
The pieces he swallowed seemed somewhat tubular or long-ish, sharp and hard. Or will his tummy acid soften the edges and pointy sharp ends? He had to really WORK hard to crunch it into pieces) Will the salmon oil, olive oil, and fats in the groundbeef help soften the passage of these hard sharp pieces? I am worried about punctures, constipation. Should I give just a meal of MM tomorrow morning and evening? And the next day the other half the whopper gargantuan wing?

Sorry for the newbie Qs.. this is all so new to me,
and the huge sharp splintery and hard pieces are making me worry. I will be looking harder for turkey necks.

Patti,

If tripe is accessable and not to expensive you can feed alot of this with some muscle meats and be ok. there are people who feed mostly tripe. This also might allow Grimm's system to stablize and maybe chicken won't be a problem in the future.

The article in the Whole Dog Journal on Green Tripe had people who feed it almost exclusively.

As far as the boney wings, I would add alot of muscle meat and this should help. Can you get small whole turkeys? The 8 - 14 lbs trukeys usually have both wings and drums that are smaller and easier to eat. This might be an option.

How about duck or quail or any other type of fowl?

GS Mom, turkey is rare here. Pork is KING in Germany.
Duck and goose are very costly.

Grimm got lots of MM tonight with his half a collossal wing. Will the huge sharp pointy pieces hurt him? Can they puncture him? Should I feed just MM tomorrow for both meals?

Yup, he gets a good sized blob of tripe each meal.. too costly to feed tripe as a main MM, but a good hunk goes into each meal.. I guess it helps digestion?

Patti, what about getting hubby to whack the wings with a hammer or mallet?

Thanks for the reassurance Tracy. Sorry.. so new to this yet!
Grimm had no problems today after the boney meal last night. Guess the pieces looked so long and sharp, they made me fear a puncture. Turkey wings are HUGE-- even a half wing!

Kristin, hubby actually does whack the wings in half-- thank God! They are gargantuan.
