I dont know if "Show those hips" is the right subforum, move it if it's wrong :)

Lara's over a year old now and I was hoping to get her xrayed and hopefully a stamped soon. I would rather not go through OFA, perhaps will do Penn Hip instead if this doesn't work out

What is the process for submitting xrays to Germany?

I know she needs to be sedated for the xrays and that they must be hardcopy - not digital, but I have read some sites that say "must be a member of ____" etc. (she's AKC registered, btw)

So, can someone explain the process for me? I am surprised there wasn't a sticky thread how to do this, thanks in advance :)

Go to the United Schutzhund clubs of America website. Down load the forms. It has a part for the vet to sign and check off that the dog was sedated as well as a list of requirements the vet has to include on the film - like dogs name, registration number and tattoo. In addition there is a place you can send digital xrays (my vet only does digital) to that will convert them to film and send back to you. You then mail the forms and film to the USA office, who will then send them to Germany. You pay a fee to the USA office. It takes a bit longer than OFA to get the results back but you can have them certified at a younger age. I am doing my Finnegan's on January 9th.

Okay so you must be a USCA member?

You also need a 4 generation AKC pedigree to send to Germany with the x-rays...

Not sure if you HAVE to be a USCA member....it makes sense that you do, but not sure...both USCA and WDA will process 'a' stamps.

Lee,
Thanks, the pedigree was the thing I wasn't sure about, I didn't buy one of those but I will get one.

Since my dog came from Germany do I still have to go through the USCA/WDA or could I send them straight to the SV? I assume I won't need an AKC pedigree since I have one from the SV...just wondering what is different if your dog came from there. Thanks

(Sorry to semi-hijack the thread with my own related question)
