Seems like we have so many bad stories on here about police officers - of course the good ones are buried and treated as ho-hum ...

Officer commended for saving canine’s life
By Cindy Swirko
Staff writer

Quote from the Gainesville Sun, Sat. Nov. 13:
On Friday at about 11:32 a.m., officer Juan Cruz responded to Desoto Lake to a call for help from a man who needed assistance in retrieving his dog out of the lake, reported Capt. John Blanchard IV.

Cruz saw that the golden retriever was having difficulty swimming to shore, so he removed his duty gear and jumped into the lake to save the dog by bringing it ashore.

For all the people who would save their dog over a stranger, here is a stranger jumping in a lake to save somebody's dog. I think he would have done the same for a person.

Yes, he is a police officer, but also a human being, and jumping in a lake after a dog is certainly not in his job description. So its not like, that's his job saving people and dogs.

Kudos to the officer for saving the dog. The dog has a happy owner, and the officer is responsible for that.
