Hello everyone!!! My pup Bane is 4 months and already 50lbs. We used to let him play with my sister in laws dog who is 3 years but only 16lbs. Since Bane is so much bigger then him and doesn't know when to stop playing, my fear is that he might hurt the other dog. I know it won't be on purpose since he doesn't know better yet I hand stopped the play dates. Should they keep playing or am I right by stopping the play??

Big and little dogs can play but the big dog has to have some restraint. Your 4 month old pup probably hasn't learned much restraint yet when playing, especially if he was taken from his litter too soon. You could supervise their play times and if it gets too rough, time out for a break and cool drink. Your dog can learn restraint as it gets more mature but you have to really work on it to make sure the little dog doesn't get hurt. I've seen GSD's play with kittens and not hurt them so it is possible.
