Check the lip folds periodically and keep them clean. With some dogs food "bits" can get trapped in there and lead to problems likes this. Hope she mends quickly.
I predict Rolf may be one of these dogs. What do you use to clean?

It's healing well. Most likely caused by the beef neck bones they gave her to chew on, causing abrasions where bacteria got in. No more of that ever.

Honest kitchen is the primary culprit with my girl. I’ve cut back on feeding this at home and use it more for camping/hiking. In those situations I’ll usually use whatever creek water is available and if it’s deep enough to swim that works too. At home I just use a damp paper towel and if the area looks irritated i use a small amount of chlorhexidine rinse which clears things up quick. None of my other gsds have this problem.
