This dog was posted on CL last night.. the post read that the dog was going to be put down because there is noone to care for him. I wrote to the poster and here is her reply:

This is a long story about this dog but im gonna try and make is short. My fathers ex passes away leaving 2 children (grown) a daughter and a son (who is mentally handicap) and has to have a gaurdian. Well his sister had gaurdian over him and well her and her husband split up and she moved out and left her brother behind with 5 dogs to take care of. And he is handicap. Well she told him she was having all the dogs put to sleep b/c she cant have them where she lives. Well he called me today and i went and picked him up and i am trying to help him figure out what he is gonna do. And me being the good hearted person i am, i have taken in 8 dogs already as rescue and 2 of theres and i just cant handle any more right now and plus i dont have the funds for a vet at the moment. So that is the story behind this. But the only info i have on this GSD is that he is grown and the son told me he limps. He eats and eats but doesn't gain weight and i dont think he is neutered either. As far as anything else i am not sure. I dont want to tell something i dont know and this is all i know. I havent even seen the dog with my eyes. But i am believing he is probably at least 2 yrs old. As far as aggression i dont know. I cant try and find out more info. but i dont know for sure that i can. I just want to get this dog out of there before they have time to put him to sleep. He is current on shots or anything i dont believe either. Please email back ... sorry that this isnt much info. but its all i have.

thanks
Nikki

One more footnote..Pike county has no animal control and SHOOTING dogs is a legal way of killing them and the sheriff's office always advises residents to do so. So when they say "put down" it could and may mean shooting, not euthing at the vet.
