Photos from 1st day of Puppy Class!

Today was our 1st day of puppy class and if was finally a rain-free, sunny day! Radar was so awesome the instructor told the other puppy parents not to expect their puppies to be able to do what he was already doing. She told them that our GSD was from working lines and that he was breed to have focus and learn quickly! This was because Radar was focused on our faces, not jumping and not more interested in the other dogs (like the rest of the class was)! What surprized me the most was that during the off lead play time he pretty much ignored the other dogs and chose to sit and stare at us in an attempt to get more clicks and more treats. When he did interact with the other pups he was appropriate but it was clear he wanted to "work" not play. We had a great day. Here are photos of my two daughters with him.

Good boy Radar!!!! That's great that your daughters are working with him, and it sounds like you've got a good trainer too!

I had the same problem with Keefer during play breaks - he figured out right quick that *I* had food, and those other puppies didn't!
I had to keep shooing him away to go play since one of the exercises we were working on was to call them back from play. Didn't work so well if he stuck around hoping for more treats!

What a doll baby puppy! And it's nice the trainer seems to understand your dog!
Puppy class is awesome! What are your plans after graduation for that working line puppy with the awesome focus?????
What a good boy! Look at that focus! Congrats.
Oh my what a cute pup and devoted family.

That's why we were there! He did play some- he was just not as obsessed as the other puppies. He did go and try to get treats from other peoples purses!

We were given a little autograph book to have everyone sign that pets him. Its a contest to see who can get the most signatures!

My youngest daughter has been learnng how to handle the grandpa of this pup. She plans to compete in tracking with him (the grandpa) this spring. He is a retiring SchH3. We know we want to complete with the pup in something. She is hoping in SchH but we are keeping all options open including agility!

We have to throw treats to get him to walk away- at his age he still is not very good at seeing them land though! Today is the first day he ever had cheese and he was in heaven. I have never had such a food motivated dog! The trainer said this will make it easier to train him. One cute thing that happened is that when the trainer was showing how to "charge the clicker" Radar went running over to her. She said he already knows what a click means for sure!
Sounds like everyone had a fun day out with dogs! Keep us posted and the pictures are a great touch!
Hi,

Thanks for sharing such nice pictures with us.

Like the "focusing" in the first image.

Good luck to you and your dog(s).
