Hello! New to the board!
My two year old Shepard has just been diagnosed with pannus. Just started her on some drops (cyclosporine) little overwhelmed and hoping she does not loose her vision. Anyone have any advice would really appreciate your feedback/ story's good or bad.:):)
Thanks

Do a search several of us here have dealt with Pannus. My boy Shadow had it. Once you get the hang of putting the goop in their eyes it because second nature. He passed away a while back of something totally unrelated. His Pannus was always well controlled with the medicine and never gave him any trouble.

Sky's mom.

Had a 5 yr old male, Damian, w Pannus in his right eye only.

My vet in S Jersey prescribed an ointment - name escapes me now- with twice daily doses.

He did advise me that it was completely manageable and to be dedicated to the ointment application because any disease / infection in a dog's eye(s) takes a long time to heal. Best advice!

Probably 5 months later, the Pannus had receded and was gone after 6 months . Pannus can be recurring, but we never had another bout.

Do not worry too badly yet. Be diligent w the medicine. Hopefully you've caught it early. Best of luck.

Damian was put down in April of 2009 at the age of 12.

Apache was about 2 when he was diagnosed with pannus, he's 10-1/2 now. He's been on drops since he was 2, no signs of any vision loss. He still gets cyclosporene one drop each eye.
Are you going to an ophthalmologist?

I've been dealing with it for 6 years now. Drops and two different onitments 3 times a day.

My girl is 12 now and is not blind, but her vision if very cloudy. Thank goodness the ointments are not too expensive. I do take her to a specialist twice a year.

It is manageable. Good luck.

Thanks kiya thats great to hear, and yes i took her three days ago and have been giving her some maxidex drops four times a day until i can get the cyclosporine on monday. As of last night there is no sign of redness and both eyes are looking awesome. Dont want to get my hopes up but it seems to be working.
