A trainer pointed out to me a while ago that Stella was pacing instead of trotting. I knew that horses did that, but didn't know dogs did. So I have been watching Stella and yup....she paces a lot. She does trot too. Just wondering if others do this and if it means anything. Maybe I am not moving fast enough for her to trot????

I would think that it wouldn't matter how fast you go as the pace and the trot would be the same speed - at least it is for horses - it is just that the legs move different. Maybe she finds the pace more comfortable going in a certain direction. If you were to watch her run, it would be interesting also to see what lead she takes - which foreleg goes down first.

I notice that she will go back to trotting when I slow down after she starts pacing. But she definitely does a lot of the pacing.
Now I am going to have to see if she has a foreleg that she starts with.....
