My puppy is 5.5 months old. Her lower canine tooth on the left punctured into the top of her mouth by about quarter inch because of an overshot bite. does she need medical care?

YES! and you need to see if it's not to late to try to move the tooth over a bit. Can cause alot of infection and problems in dogs BUT if the teeth are still coming in they can be moved somewhat.

The pictures look like a GSD too.

Orthodontics may not work this late in the game.
I have a female with severe overbite, had both bottoms cut and filled
for same reason @ 7 mos, spayed same knockout, had 2 vets working on her...which took a bit to schedule.

There are few vet dentists...

Cost was $500 each, 4 years ago. Do not breed her.

Good Luck!
Yes see a Vet or Ortho Vet. At a minimum they will shorten the tooth and cap it so it doesn't put a whole in the top of the mouth.

Too late to edit...
This lady was the vet dentist who sent me to that site first mentioned,
the list of dentist graduates, as we obviously weren't going to Florida from MI.
