I have a 10 week old German Shepard. One of his ears are up, the other is down. The issue is, the ear that’s down has a bend in it, and I’m afraid it’ll never go up! I love the look of German Shepard’s. He’s my first one, previously owned an Akita whose ears have been up since I got him. Anyhow, his ear is like inverted at the crease and where it flops down, it has a deep crease. I avoid touching them as much as possible. Before his first ear went up, when he would lay down it looked like it was already up. When he lays down with the second ear, it won’t go straight and folds into itself. I can post pictures for reference, but not sure how. Will this be an issue for him? Will it go up ever?! He sees his vet in 2 weeks.

EARS, EARS, EARS, They go up and down and they do whatever they are going to do. If @ 5-6 months old they are not both up then get concerned right now love your puppy.

I do love him! I just love the look and I want to see if there could be a reason. Plus, I’m impatient, lol

Mine had one floppy ear. The reason was that the tissue in the ear just wasn't as stiff and substantial. I tried taping it but it was pointless. His personality was perfect and he was gorgeous so who cares?

As an aside, women seemed to really love the fact that he had one floppy ear. They said it gave him personality.

I think I previously said/estimated that my first GSD's ears finally went up at around 10 months old. (I was mistaken.) I just looked at his photos last night for the first time since he's been gone and his 2nd ear was fully erect at around 8 months old. He was 1 ear up, 1 ear down for a couple of months, droopy at the tip for the last few weeks.

Enjoy these times of cuteness with your pup. They go by real fast and years later when you're looking back at the pictures (like I was last night), you may regret that you wished your dog grew up so fast. I get the impatience...I was just like you. I couldn't wait to see my boy fully grown and do adult things with him like run, hike, fetch, obedience, etc.

The current pup, his ears came up around the 2nd week I had him, so I didn't even have the chance to really enjoy the "ear" stage. One day during the daytime, he took a nap. Woke up, and both his ears were up. One drooped a little for a day and it was back up again for good.

Should be fine, 10 weeks is still quite young. My pups ears didn't go up until around 4 months. I was just as nervous as you, but they ended up being ok.
