This is a great thread! And a great message too.

When we first got Allie alot of people were like, "uh, she is from a rescue..so what is wrong with her?" type of thing.

She was picked up as a stray and then pulled (from what I know) when her last minute was up at the shelter.

now most people cannot believe she wasnt adopted right away from the shelter..heck she was already good in the house, crate trained, potty trained ect. And like Historian said, one of the sweetest, easiest gsds I have met, like her girl.

The only thing I can think it was because she was almost all black (well bicolor) Our gain!!!

thanks for starting this thread! Rafe is STUNNING, too!!!

I want to keep this post on the front page for a bit because of a few reasons.

First, most rescues are very friendly dogs, and are so happy to see someone take them from a shelter.

Second, serving as a rescue person for a single dog is not that difficult. The dog will bond with you quickly, and I suspect most people will have trouble parting with the dog when a final home is found.

Give rescuing a thought.
