We have our 6 month old german shepherd boy Gus. Since a puppy he has been nothing but health problems. Panus of the eyes, umbilical hernia, had an un united acromial process of the elbow when he was a year old (had surgery back 4 years ago - 2500 later) and seasonal allergies. The past 6 months he has started to limp on his back left leg. We took him to a specialist here in Ohio and he was sure it was an acl tear of the knee. We scheduled surgery with a local vet and did xrays and his knee looked great. Our vet said it was probably OA and sent us home with pain meds. We have been on Arthrogen for 8 weeks now and seen a bit of improvement. He has a more noticeable limp when getting up from his bed or when we go for short walks. We have an ingrown pool and have been trying aqua therapy for exercise and doesnt seem to be getting any better or worse. Anyone every heard of the supplement Response Cetyl M joint formula? Reviews looked good and trying to decide if we want to try it. Any other supplements suggested?
Also our vet suggested a femoral head removal. We cannot afford another huge bill to get a hip replacement. Due to his many medications he needs for panus, allergies, and joint supplements. But he is 110 lbs and 6 years old. Any opinions on that surgery and if it would benefit him?
Feeling really discouraged about it. And would love some suggestions.
