I lost my Lilly bear a month ago at a few months shy of her 13th birthday. I put so much time and effort into her training as a pup and it paid off, there wasn’t a single person who didn’t fall in love with her the second they got over her size. (She was 100lbs)! We kept her lean and walked almost 3miles a day, with following the advice of my amazing vet, Lilly was dream come true!
We are not ready for a new pup just yet, but looking forward to reading all kinds of posts and advice from others to prepare us again.

Welcome from NW Ohio. I'm sorry to hear about your Lilly. It's so hard to take the step of a new puppy, but they certainly can bring joy back to our lives.

When it's time, the Universe shall let you know.

I work as a checkout operator at a busy supermarket. One day a customer asked about my Kaiser. I told him that we had lost him about a year go (from that date) and that he was just short of turning 11 at the time. We chatted about him as I packed his shopping, and little did I know..........

...... the very next person in line was a German Shepard breeder and she had been listening the whole time. She had just 2 puppies left and was local to me. The Universe was knocking.

I still miss old Kaiser (a lot), but I love my new little girl as she makes her own way in our hearts and our family.

I'm sorry for the loss of your Lilly. And welcome to a really great community.

I have a sickness where I can't have a house without a GSD in it for more than a few weeks....can't be a home until there is. I lost a dog in December once, saddest Christmas ever but my wife asked me to wait until Spring.....we had a puppy in January ;)

We had to wait almost a month before we could bring Lilly’s ashes home, it’s such a strange feeling but I feel a bit better now that she is back with us in our home.
My home and life isn’t complete without a German shepherd, I think we have the same sickness😉, I’ve already put a deposit on a female pup and we will be welcoming her home the third week of June!
