Hello,

I am new here and I have a question for you all. My boyfriend and I just purchased a 15 week old GSD over the weekend. As I was show her off to all my friends, 2 of them had said she does not look like a full GSD. So I thought I would ask you all on what you think. She has the body of one thats for sure, but the face does not seem right (so I was told). We did not get nay papers on her. The mother and father were on site and they were GS for sure. But the mother was very light in color. She had no dark on her...just tan and white. The father was brown with some black. Thank you for your help.

I have to agree with some of your friends. She looks like a very beautiful GSD/mix to me.

She does not look Purebred to me, but she is so beautiful. I do have a problem with so-called breeders selling these dogs and thousands of others as PB when they are not.

Thank you all! I had a feeling about it and so did my boyfriend. But we did take her word for it. I am not very happy right now. She is a very nice dog and she has attached more to my boyfriend then me ha ha.

I do have a question...will her ears stand up? I have seen them up a few times since we got her.

Also would you say anything to the seller about this?

If she was sold to you as a PB, then absolutely say something to the Seller.

15 weeks is still young for the ears to stand up, at least from what I've read here.

Depending on what the mix is the ears may not stand. Don't be to disappointed she is beautiful. Did the breeder offer her papers?

Helly, that is the thing she never said PB but she did a lot of talking about the mother and father being full and how the mothers, mother was a white GS I think. All she said was "we just don't have papers". I guess you live and learn. I am not happy that she sold the other ones for $400+. I think about all the others out there that did not know any better as well. But yes she is beautiful. I am just not happy because we paid for a GS nothing else no mix. It is like ordering a 100% beef burger and then getting a spam burger. You did not pay for spam you paid for beef.

Nope no papers were offered because they said they just did not have them.

Also like I said I did see the ears stand straight up a few times for a short time. When she was sitting on the floor we looked over at her and they were straight up and she was watching us talk. It was kind of funny.

It looks likes you guys were lied to. You can go on the AKC site and see if the breeder name or the parent's names appear anywhere. That is a long shot. You may also want to let your local BBB know of the deception since she was sold as PB.
Anyway, love your new baby lots and keep us posted on her development.

Absolutely...she never said PB, but she sure implied it talking about the mom and dad. I can't believe she would charge people that much for a mix.

no matter what she is...she is very cute! there are tons of people on this board with mixes, so please stick around and continue to post! there is great advice given here from everything like training to food. there are also lots of people who enjoy looking at doggie pics!

Puppies go through very awkward stages and look very pretty but fairly non-GSD. It's just really hard to tell with pups. They offer doggy DNA tests now for under $100 that I saw on (I think MSN.) I think that would be the way to go to figure out if she is PB beyond a doubt.

Thank you all for all your help. Sorry about the delay in responding back. No we did not pay $400. We did see at one of the pet story yesterday that she (seller) had a posting up there. She was listing them as PB! I took a picture of it and sent it to a few friends and they could not believe it. We said something to the store owner and he did not take the add down. That mad me even more mad. What kind of a place would allow something like that? Oh well, like I said you live and learn. Thank you all again you have been so great and helpful! Definitely a mix, and I agree with the others about the ears, depending on the "mix" they may or may not stand. Hopefully someone else will read this and learn from it and research before making a purchase. She is beautiful and either way I am sure she will steal your heart if she hasn't already.
