Hi! I know absolutely nothing about this topic so I need a little help. I am wondering if it is possible for my solid black female to have sable puppies if bred to a sable? (Both of her parents were Black and Tan, if that helps) I have a sable male lined up but I’m just trying to make sure that I make the right decision. We are really wanting a sable puppy out of the litter if it is possible.

If you breed to a sable, yes, you likely would get sables. You may not even get a single black puppy if the male doesn’t carry the black gene.

But I am with Fodder. Breeding strictly for color is a terrible practice. What strengths does the male have that compliment your female? Are both dogs fully health tested?
