Last sunday I was suppose to go to the louisville zoo and didn't get to go because our electricity went out the night before and didn't come back on until 8am the next morning.
It was meant for me not to go because a pack of dogs (mutts; 6 of them) were in yard attacking bella. I let her outside to potty. Never ever ever had this to happen to me since Ive had dogs.
Dad goes out and gets his 22 pistol and starts shooting up in the air to scare them away, they run off.
Monday night my dad comes home and see them next to the yard waiting on bella to come out. Dad then again starts shooting again.
Last night around 8am I let bella out to potty (I was with her this time on a leash) and she starts growling I don't see nothing and I yell for dad. Dad comes outside with his 22 pistol and tells me and bella to get in the house. Bella would not leave dad I had to drag her and she is a 60lb dog. She whined, growled and barked. So I stayed beside dad because she wanted to protect him also. All of a sudden I see him running from behind the hill right next to the yard. One of them got the nerve to charge at my dad and bella and dad fires two shots at it, it yelped out and then they all ran. I can't call AC because they is no leash laws up here, so you are better off shotting the dog than to call them cause they wont come up here.

P.S. I forgot to mention earlier, we had to take down a side of the fence because our neighbor made a deal with dad, that if we took the wood fence down, he was going to put a chain link fence up because his mother was dying and they are going to make it a cemetary next door. Dad was okay with that considering he didn't have to tear the fence down and put the chain link fence up either. So free fencing and I don't have to worry about dad putting the fence because he works.

Until they put the chain link fence up..... what can I do to protect myself and my bella bug when I take her out to potty. I can't really house train her, so id rather keep her in routine of taking her outside to use the potty.

Can you put up some kind of temporary fencing using some steel pickets and Hog wire?
How is Bella after being attacked? Is she injured?

I don't know what to tell you. Take her out on a leash and stay really close to the door. Maybe have your dad go with you outside and stand by with the gun if one starts to charge again.

Scary stuff. I hope Bella is OK.

Is Bella alright after being attacked? Sorry to hear you're having to deal with this That's not even cool...
You could use the temporary fencing idea. You MAY be able to call AC, not because of leash law, but because the dogs are attacking your dog and father. At this point they are a liability and can be called dangerous.

She isnt injured real bad just scratches really. Trust me I know that fence needs to go back up real quick and in a hurry. Ive actually talked to the guy that was putting a family cemetary and to be honest the reason I havent bugged him is because they just put his mother over there. They are still doing landscaping, cleaning and cutting down trees. So I might ask him sometime this weekend when he is over there. I wouldnt want to bug him about it after his mother just died.
Yeah Ive been taking her on a leash for now on, and I have been carrying a BB gun. I dont want to hurt them but I want them to get the point that they dont need to be there. All 6 of them belong to someone in my holler, apparently they just take animals off the street, bring them home and let them roam free. The two oldest dogs are the other dogs parent. So its like a big family gang LOL. Makes me feel like a family war when two families are argueing and fighting each other.

I'm sorry, but IMO your AC is pullin some bull lol. I would have your dad call and ask them, "And if they attack a child? What happens then? Because if they do, it will be your fault for not catching them BEFORE they can."

So true! I was thinking about just a few mins ago. Ive really upset and today I found out Im going to be a aunt sooner LOL my sister was dilating a little today like 1cm. So not only will have to worry about her, because doc thinks were she is so tiny she might have a rough time having the baby so they are debating on having a c-section. so while im at the hospital this week I will worry myself to death about bella, of course she will be inside the house the whole time. You know how it feels to worry.

Heck I even called the sheriff on another incident about a pit bull coming in the yard, I posted a thread about it before when I had hachi and they said they couldnt come up here either Im like this is bull****! (sorry for the language but ****) im pissed majorly. Im really afraid of doing something though because if the owners found out, (people up where I live are not the brightest people in the world and have backwoods thinking) they are spiteful and Im afraid of what people would do. Catch me outside and shot bella.

I'm sorry because I don't know these 6 dogs. But I would stop shooting in the air. They could hurt you trying to get to Bella. If they come back I would tell AC that I was attacked and see if they show up then. Hope the dogs don't cause you to have trouble with your neighbors but you need to protect yourself.

I would honestly bait the strays in with some wet dog food mixed with a good amount of rat poison. Place it behind the house were they seem to be coming from. They will eat the food, and go off somewhere and die. This way you dont see them die, and it's not your problem.

Packs of dogs are very, very dangerous. I hate to say this, but I think it's best if your dad shoots them all. There's no other remedy. You'll be doing everybody a favor.

Rat poison is a slow and not so pleasing death. While the dogs are dangerous, they are still dogs and don't deserve that. Quicker is better.

I think I'd try a very sharp, hard blast from a water line... if that didn't work, I might go with a long distance sprayer loaded with ammonia. The latter is extreme, I know, and I'd perhaps try to avoid spraying directly in the eyes, but you must do something to protect your dog from this pack. Maybe a different type of spray, but something that really gets their attention and associates a REALLY bad association with your place.

Dont use rat poison. Considering they have become a problem and AC is of no help, shoot first. Quick. Problems are likely to only escalate the longer they're around to cause trouble, especially if no one is actually showing responsibility for them. Packs are dangerous given their own devices.

That's not funny, that's what they are. I don't think you're safe, how old are you? I think your father needs to take over here, whether he insists that the neighbor do something with the fence, be your escort outside with Bella, or take Bella out himself.
