I dabbled in herding here and there with my oldest two but never had time or money for it until now. I took Isa who's 5 and my youngest at 16 months, Akbar for his first time. I'm learning right along with them. :)

Story behind the "weird" crook, Akbar did not respect the normal crook to keep them off the sheep as he was literally running wild after them so the lady got a plastic rake and right when Akbar went straight for the goat she held it out and he ran face first into it. So after that he respected it and he could actually learn to herd.

great pics and LOVE the video! I would have loved to have seen the commotion when the one goat broke away LOL..was waiting to hear instructor go "oops we're down to to two goats" :_))

That is so neat! I never thought about how dogs learn to herd. Thanks for sharing!

That was really interesting. Loved how the goats stayed with you. I would have tripped over them and ended up covered in goat droppings.

that was good. Cattle work goes a lot the same way.
