What could be causing my 8 month old GSD to have itchy skin? His breeder recommended Holistic Select Large/ Giant breed puppy food and that's what he's been on since his arrival at 8 weeks. I'm wondering if something in that recipe is causing the constant scratching. I'm supplement with fish oil in hopes it would help. he has a beautiful shiny coat, I'm confused, his stool could be more firm, I've recently started changing him over to Taste of the Wild to get more salmon but now I read that that's not a good choice until he's an adult. Anyone have any ideas? He really likes Salmon, I supplement with Evangers pure salmon and other salmon treats...no grains. He is rather thin but growing nicely. I feed him 4 cups a day and he's always hungry! Thanks...i'm new to this community and i'm learning alot.

Where did you read that salmon is not good till they are an adult ? What was the reasoning behind that ?

No, I meant Taste of the Wild.... not Salmon the ingredient. He loves Salmon. Someone also recommended Acana.

A lot of people don't ever feed a puppy formula. You just want to watch the calcium levels and make sure it's less than 2% until he's an adult. I think you'd be fine feeding TOTW, especially since he's 8 mos old
