OMG...how horrible. How can someone do something that cruel and evil to such a beautiful animal. :( I hope she is able to pull through and find a loving home.
OMG!!!! How could someone do that to her!?!?!?!? there are no words.... i am praying hard for this girl and for her "owners" to pay HEAVILY for what they've done. There is NEVER any excuse for this!!!! I'm amazed she's still standing! i hate saying it but maybe it would be better for her to be humanely euthanized. She's likely to have some permanent and severe health issues for the remainder of her life if she recovers simply from SEVERE starvation and a lack of nutrition. My heart hurts for her.
..Im shocked, poor girl.. Thanks god shes no longer on the hands of that evil person.
I dont know how people can go that far.

Like I said, my poor boy was almost this bad when I pulled him last year. It took 9 months to get him back to normal weight, but he is now @ 95#'s and just passed his annual physical with ease ! He was anemic from the flea infestations, had bloody hair mats that had to be shaved off & had lost all the hair on the bottom of his tail (he was so weak he had been dragging it). His ear tips were eaten off by flys & he had horrible ear infections.

It's amazing how resiliant these guys are & how they bounce back with a little TLC.
*jaw drops to the floor* I'm lucky I'm in shock or I'd start to cry.

oh i understand how resiliant these dogs are. Obviously as she's standing and has NO muscle tone on her skin and bones body at all. I mean not everyone would be willing to take her on. If i had the money and time i would drive down there right now and give it my best shot for her but my God poor girl. we see it every day but i still find it so hard to believe that anyone can be THAT cruel intentionally or unintentionally!!!
I was informed that she was already PTS :-( RIP beautiful girl!!! Run free at the bridge...
they probably felt thats all they could do. or she has some issues that came up beyond the obviously that played a part in the decision. We can rest better knowing that she's healthy and happy again at the Bridge.
Well, just so everyone knows: There are 6 other shepherds at this shelter, right now - all look like great dogs. All are between 1 year - 5 years. There are 2 males and 4 females. Rapter is one of the females - she is a black and tan about a year old. She has a mangled right front leg. I would like to help her but the one time I set up transport for an animal on the way out of MDAS - they put him down the day before he was set to fly and didnt follow-up with me. :-( That was the first and last time I worked with them. Any one have any good leads there? Would love to reach out and help but they just didn't seem very rescue friendly the last time I tried.
i'd take one of the males if i could. I'll see if i can find info on the dogs there in a bit. Transport would be a problem though.
Poor baby girl, makes me just want to shoot someone!!!! Glad that she finally has peace but sad she had to leave this world not knowing love.
Not sure why they did not give this poor girl at least a day or 2, there were several potential rescues in the works & they EU'd her anyway ...............

Let me try and scare up a direct contact there in authority who will commit to holding the dog until you can arrange transport !

Pming you contact info for Miami Dade that might help.
I left a vm and a pm with information as well.

Mary Lou
Allie (5 year old GSD) and Murphy (chowrottie? rescue)
If you are still interested in pulling that poor Raptor fellow I live in the county above Miami-Dade and could try to help?
Oh poor baby! What the %@!* is wrong with people?? I sure hope the owners will be prosecuted!!
I wouldn't let an insect suffer like that!! Hope owners were arrested.

R.I.P. Beautiful Girl. My Blanca will play and run with you now.
Just wanted to let you know that I talked with an insider at Miami Dade today
and was informed that they will not allow out of state rescues to pull any dogs. In order to become an approved rescue with this shelter you have to fill out a form, get approved, and then attend an orientation. I begged and pleaded for this poor dog. They were not helpful and there is no way around the situation. The person was very nice, but her hands were tied. There was nothing she could do. :-( If there is not someone with a rescue that has been "approved" and is local to Florida, then there is no way of helping. :-(
