She's gorgeous! By the way, in a recent conversation someone mentioned not putting the tatoo in the ear but on the belly or inside the back hip because they had heard of an incident where the ear with a tatoo was cut off. Not sure if this is an urban legend, just thought I'd mention it.

Stosh......we've been tattooing our dog's ears (and others) for over 10 yrs now, and we have never had a problem with any ear.
The tattoo is like "ear piercing"...there is no blade to cut the ear.
I'm going to be pretty confident in saying that that comment is totally "urban legend".
Most people that don't want to tattoo...usually microchip.....some do both.

I would say that it is NOT an "urban legend". If it is, it sure is a strange coincidence(sp) the number of dogs you see that end up at the pound or in rescue with the right ear MISSING all the way down to the dogs head! (And these aren't "BYB" looking dogs. They are often quite obviously WG show lines.

That said, that wouldn't stop me from doing a tattoo in a pups ear.

I got the impression that the ear was not damaged during the tattoo process, but after the fact due to some nefarious activity.

Pup looks great, BTW.

Sancho...you were correct in your impression.
Ears do not get damaged or cut off during or because of the tattoo......they would have to be "removed" AFTER the dog has been tattooed.
If a dog falls into the hands of this type of unscrupulous person....obviously, it doesn't matter where the dog has identification....it still becomes a victim.
