We have recently added a bonus room upstairs and and it only has 2 high windows. Duke likes to see what's going on outside but even when he jumps up with his front paws he still can't see out because they are so high but he's ruining the window sills with his paws / claws ( we even had them trimmed last week ). We give him his "eh" command when he does that and he gets down but he repeatedly does that when we go up there. We just finished that room, walls, sheetrock, etc. I can't imagine him tearing it all up.

We've put a gate up so he can't go up there but then its a hassle for us to go up and down continually.

any suggestions ?

I have the same type of problem with a big picture window of mine-the dogs are constantly putting thier paws on it and somehow clawing at it. I'm about to start redoing that room and I'm going to try putting baseboard (the linolium type) down on the sill. Theres about a four inch sill so I'm thinking that will protect it and will be easier to clean. Maybe something like this will help you???

Vinyl or rubber I've thought of but a couch will not work, the window is right there at the top of the stairs, you'd run right into the couch or chair coming up the stairs. Maybe a tall skinny table, maybe.
