Blitz will be 5 months this week and to date, no shedding yet! In the last week I have noticed she is looking and feeling fluffier and her tail is starting to fan a bit so I think her undercoat is coming in, when I brushed her after her bath last night I got a little bit of fuzz off of her so I think it's starting....How spoiled have I been with no dog hair in my house....but I think my days are numbered LOL.

When did everyones pup start getting their full coat and start shedding?? I haven't had a shedding dog in the house in almost 5 years, it was so nice, now it's almost over BUT WORTH IT!

My Jamie is 11 days younger than yours. I was wondering the same thing about when her shedding would start. So with your post lets me know it will be soon then. It has been nice not having shedding with her and when she starts I will have two shedding shepherds in my house!!! Thankfully I have a good vacuum!!

Abby is just a couple days shy of 6 months and
hasnt started any serious shedding yet. A few hairs
here and there and a little in the brush. Wont be
long though...

My old GSD Mikey was a prolific shedder. I tried to brush
him as often as I could and afterward there were balls
of fur blowing around the neighborhood like tumbleweeds...

Due to the time of year you may not get a full shed until the spring.
My dog was shedding at 4 months but that was caused by cheap food.
Once we put her on good food the shedding stopped. We got her at the
end of Sept 09 at 11 weeks and she didn't shed (once on good food) until
May. Then she only shed for a month. Since June there has been only minor
shedding. We find very little hair around the house when we vacuum weekly except
where she sleeps, even then there's not a LOT. Besides the good food (Orijen) she gets one fish oil pill .... which she started recently because she stole mine when I was taking it, so I continued.

Frag didn't start getting his adult coat in right until about 7 months. He waited until a year old to start shedding, and now he doesn't stop.

We do a full clean of the house everyday to keep hair to a minimum.

Stosh is long-coated and at 10 mos hasn't really shed much at all. I sweep the floor everyday and like to think I brush him daily, but you know how that goes. We don't allow dogs on carpet or furniture so the cleanup is easy and the fur minimal. Hopefully it won't be too bad in the spring but I'm not expecting it to be this easy

Shasta started shedding almost exactly when her puppy fur disappeared and her adult fur started showing. she was about 4-5 months old.

6 months ... get a wire brush with a wooden handle, with fine bristles placed very close together. brush everyday at least once, but preferably twice. We also have some sort of shedding band type thing that's shaped like an oil filter wrench or a kitchen jar belt wrench...and has a serrated edge on one side of the metal band. Use the serrated edge side and brush the hair with the grain and you'll see an amazing amount of hair just fall to the floor. Then follow up with the thin wire brush to remove the remainder. I was vacuuming 3 times a day.. now I only have to vacuum once a day. and the brush helps with finding ticks... bonus.
PS..... They shed enough to make 5 wigs a day.
