Last night, for the very first time in a little over 6 months that
we've had her, Sierra had doggie dreams! I was in bed and she
was in the hall, so I didn't see if her paws were moving, but
very definite whimpering of doggie dreams.

The only thing I can think of is that it's been long enough and
she is comfortable and secure enough that she feels "safe" to
deep sleep and dream.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure, but Elle has doggie dreams all the time, sometimes to the point that I have to wake her. Emma just started draming about a week ago, and her little paws were just moving really fast, so I thought she was dreaming of chasing Elle, which she loves to do.

Probably if you've had her for over 6 months, she is comfortable and feels safe.

Sorry I don't know Sierra's story but it sounds as if she came from a rather unhealthy environment. I would guess that if she dreams at night that she is very safe and secure in her new world.

My thoughts are that you probably deserve some congratulations.

Sarge dreams a lot, some times he gets really going with the whimpering, He had a pretty tough past so im thinking hes reliving some of the bad times. I generally call him softly and he comes over for some pets, then we go outside for a potty or a little walk so he can have a little reasurance.

Thanks.

We know Sierra was in an outdoor kennel for a year prior to
our adopting her. And we are very sure that she was hit at
her first home. There have been times when my husband has
gestured (he's a six footer) and Sierra has cowered. She also
used to be really startled when we'd lean over and pat her on
her sides, we take care not to do that any more. And now
when I do hug her or whatever, she gives LOTS of kisses.
Makes me feel closer to her as a mommy.
