Hey,

I went out this weekend and caught some tuna and mahimahi with some friends. I filleted them up and threw them in the freezer. I wanted to know would it be safe to give some to, my 8 month old GSD for occasional kibble toppers(once a weekish). If it is okay to give what would be a good nuking time to make sure it's safe for him.

I work in a Fish Market:)

Once or twice a week as a topper is fine I would say. When I feed fish, I usually boil it up and keep the liquid..so rather than nuke it, I say boil it/poach it up.

We make fresh tuna sald with tuna here, again, boil it up with onions/celery/seasonings, drain, use the tuna w/mayo.

The mahi I would do the same thing..Tuna does supposedly carry mercury, so you dont want to over feed it ..

Mahi has mercury in it too-- they are also a top-level predator. However, either in moderation is totally fine- follow the guidelines as you would for a child. Once or twice a week won't do any harm.
