As the title says, is the halti collar really worth it?

I've to add that he walks perfectly when you tire him out at the park. But if You don't he starts pulling, I don't mind doing this but my sister doesn't like the idea of always doing that :/, she wants to buy one for him.
I know some people have success with them, but I say no. They worked only for one of our dogs as far as making them walk better on leash. ALL of them HATED it. Some turned into bucking broncos, others scratched at their nose at every opportunity.

We switched from a Halti to a prong and the dogs enjoyed the walks MUCH more.
I just watched a few vids on youtube and that gave me an idea, imma first try to use + R before trying something else.
For pulling I have found corrections + opposite direction walking + reward for walking with to be a good combination.

A Halti is a good tool to use when leverage is needed for controlling a dog, i.e. small owner and big dog. It would not be my first choice to prevent pulling.
I would try a prong collar instead of a halti. Your sister will have much better control without anything more than a quick tug and release
A Halti is a good tool to prevent pulling, but you will have to acclimate the dog to the Halti first, and also work on training to walk on a loose leash in addition to the Halti because otherwise the dog will pull as soon as the Halti is off (like any type of training collar.) Another option is a front attach harness like the Sense-ation or Easy Walk. IMO a prong collar is not necessary to walk a dog.
i would avoid the halti for a GSD. They're not very strong and if your dog doesnt like it, he'll go nuts and snap it. If you're having trouble leash training they make a harness that goes around the front legs and when they start to pull, their legs get squeezed together. I dont know what its called but it works nicely. I would suggest leash training and a prong collar as well.
i bought the halti for my ryder, and i hate it...went with the prong, he does not like it being put on but we have marvelous walks togethter...
train your dog to heel on both sides,
with or without a leash. if you train
your dog to heel on one side it will stop
the pulling.

I tried a choke collar, a prong collar and a harness on Lycan. None of them worked. The only thing that has worked is the Halti. Does he like it? No. Tough. If he wouldn't pull on everything else I'd take it off, but it's the only thing that keeps him from pulling me along.
