Most of my training and dog experience is with hunting labs. I was always told to be careful of jumping and pulling until later on in their life. But on a leash it may be a little different. They arnt pulling on a stationary object, they are pulling on you, and you are probably moving with them. I hope someone more knowing will jump in, but all my dogs have pulled until they learned to heel, and I havnt had any problems.
