Just noticed today that my 1.5 year old GSD has a few gray whiskers on the bottom of her muzzle beneath her lip. Its very faint but wondered if this is normal. I read that it can be genetics to stress and anxiety. I also think maybe its the life stage of being at 18 months but not sure.

Have any of you experienced this? Also can gray go back to black whiskers?

thanks for the advice.

My girl Carly greyed early. Her chin was silvery when she was 2 years old. No, it never got darker again.

One of my late bitches went grey around the muzzle at the age of two years.

Just to add, it was probably genetic because her dam which I also owned had a grey muzzle from the same age.

both of mine have grey muzzles from 2 years old, and the odd whisker or two. It is when they start to get grey around the eyes, that tells their getting older.
