Hello All,
We recently added a GSD puppy to our family (about 2 weeks ago) and I am hoping to get some advice, particularly regarding weight. The breeder certificate/birth cert that came with our GSD says he was born 01 January 2018. However, according to the weight charts our GSD should be around 30lbs - he is currently at 18lbs. This is not particularly a health concern as not only does our GSD seem healthy (i.e. not underweight) but we brought him to the vet today and she said he is quite healthy. The vet said that he may be 'smaller' and grow to about '60lbs' or may see faster growth in the next few weeks. Is it possible that the birth cert was incorrect? Not only am I always suspicious of dates that read the first of the month - yes, I know it is possible he was born on the first day of the year, but his behaviors coincide with the information here (this website) for a 2-month old. For example, he has to use the bathroom about every 2 hours, his ears are beginning to stand-up, and the weight is almost exactly what it should be at 2months.

So, I guess this is a long way of asking, is it normal for him to be at that weight and still look and act healthy if he is indeed 3 months? Or am I probably right in my assumption that the date of birth is probably later (I am guessing the end of January)?
