Hi--this is my first post--been lurking for about a year. We have a 16 month old female (Abbie) who to say the least has been a handful. Very high strung--she just wants to play all day. Husband decided we needed another dog--I would've have preferred to wait until "wild child" was a little more mature. This is our first experience with two dogs. The new puppy is a male (Ollie)--we can already see a big difference in personalities--Ollie looks like he is going to be laid back.

Abbie needless to say is very rough with the little guy--he's not timid with her--but she won't let him move without pouncing on him. I have noticed when he lets out a yelp she releases and steps back.

I don't mind this kind of play in the yard--so to answer my question--is it possible to train the dogs to act one way in the yard and another way in the house? I don't mind a little rolling around on the floor--but I don't want a full blown chase in the house.

crate, seperate them when they play rough, teach them "no playing",
"no", taech them "go to your bed", "go to your crate", "stay". with age
they may settle down on their own.
