About St.Nick:
St. Nick is a very sweet old boy.He was found laying w/ his head resting on his dead owner's chest and whining pitiously. He did not want to leave his owner and had to be forced. There is no room here, he must go somewhere, but we could not leave him. He does not need to be passed around from here to there. SAD NEWS, Nick has been diagnosed w/ severe heartworms and lyme disease [a tick borne illness}This is mon, 6/2/08. Nick will be humanely euthanized if a sponsor does not step forward for him to recieve treatment by wednessday, 6/4/08. I'll not let this angel suffer. He is too good a fellow for that. I know we are a no kill shelter, but sometimes you must love enough to help the suffering die w/dignity

Faithful to the end and beyond....how heartbreaking...
Re: ADAMSVILLE, TN-M/SENIOR-FOUND W/DEAD OWNER-EUT

I e-mailed about St. Nick asking what help they needed. I have adopted 4 heartworm positive dogs in the last 4 years, only one of whom was able to be treated. Snow Princess died too soon, but the rest, including Niamh, my recent addition, were placed on Heartgard and got to live out their lives sleeping on my sofa and wandering around the yard.

What an absolute loving, devoted, companion. Offering comfort to his human so his human didn't have to die alone. Please someone help this ole fellow find a new home to call his own.

"UPDATE6/3/08Nick has won more time thanks to anteaterken and his cross posting angels he call friends!!!I have tried all day but the vet was out. Will post all I can tomorrow as I find out and set up a treatment fund for him at the vet's office. Then all can be aware of his status and where to send donations in Nick's name.I love you people! This is a great dog and deserves a chance to live to be adopted!Thank You"
Re: ADAMSVILLE, TN-M/SENIOR-FOUND W/DEAD OWNER-EUT

I would guess the lyme disease is probably as much a problem as HW. If he's severely infected with heartworms it may be too dangerous to try treatment at this point anyway. He might not be strong enough to withstand it. I'd personally go with the non-coventional method that spiritsmam uses, put them on HG and let them live.
