so im in my office and my little guy is okay but as soon as i leave the room he cries and whines...should i put him and the crate in the car and only take him out on my break like i planned?

NO WAY!!!! I would never ever ever ever ever leave your dog in your car in a crate all day i mean being in a crate is bad enough but then locked in a car that is not only dangerous but depending where you live its also illegal.

He'll get used to being in the crate. You might want to practice more at home by putting him in the crate and leaving the room and rewarding his quietness. Perhaps try leaving on a radio or some back ground noise so he doesn't feel so alone.

I agree...just be more patient and try crating in the house with appropriate rewards. We picked up our pup 2 weeks back and for the first 1 week he didn't like it. I would not let him out of his crate so long as he kept whining. Everytime he went to his crate and ssettled down quietly, I would give him a frozen yogurt.
Now he gets it and loves his crate. Infact right now he is sleeping like a baby in his crate 6 feet from my feet...well he is a baby !

It is not illegal or inhumane to keep a dog in a crate in a car. There are several people on here that do that. However, be very aware of outside temperatures.

He's just a baby so be patient. Do you have any co-workers complaining? I would keep him in the crate while in the office and let him out at scheduled intervals.

I said depending on where you live it might not be where you are but i have recieved a ticket for leaving my dog in the car for ten mins while i ran into the store even with the windows cracked!!! so im just saying if you read my post again DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE IT MIGHT BE ILLEGAL!!
