ImmunoRegulin:
http://www.neogen.com/AnimalSafety/pdf/ProdInfo/Tech_Bulletins/08892.pdf

Lots of information on the PDF.

I am considering this for Nina's recurring staph infections which really take a long time responding to antibiotics.

Found the information on that from this article: http://www.upei.ca/~cidd/Diseases/dermatology/German%20shepherd%20pyoderma.htm

They also use it on FeLV cats.

She is currently on Baytril (5th week): http://www.baytril.com/index.php/fuseact...f%20Baytril.htm

http://www.vetweb.cz/projekt/clanek.asp?pid=2&cid=4152 Maybe why immunorgegulin could help?

I want to make sure there are no other side effects to it-other than the outside possibility of anaphalaxis which is bad enough and would be my first concern of course. I would like to see her infection free though. http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dimmunoregulin.html

Those pictures are amazing.

Her pyoderma is the deep, I believe, and on the hind end, ankle and chin. I am going to take this link to her vet-thank you!

Cefovecin is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum antibacterial agent from the cephalosporin class of chemotherapeutic agents.

So it is another antibiotic to use in case she has built up a resistance, right? I hope she hasn't. As expensive as the baytril is, I prefer that over the keflex, which seemed to work okay (according to the test results) but which she hated.

She does not seem to have any allergies. This has happened last summer, last winter, this spring...

That abcess was actually an enterococcus which was "interesting" according to her vet. I am not sure what that meant (other than it is unusual) and don't have a lot of background in whatever that is-microbiology? I have no idea! Hmmm...just was reading-it seems like that is common in the MRSA world but it did eventually respond to abx then. By the time we got to Cornell, she had almost healed up all over. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=20162 How would she get that? She eats poop but is not otherwise exposed to feces-or is it that airborne particle type thing? http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Enterococcus Ya know, this stuff is beyond me.

She goes on Friday again for a recheck and probably to have her butt shaved. Poor girl has such beautiful fur again with her thyroid pill-actually her tail almost looks too big! I figured I'd try to bring more information in and make a decision on the Immunoregulin then.

Jean, the IRG is used in FeLV cats to invoke an interferon (sp?) production/reaction and is very effective. The DMG supplement also does this
And is why holistic vets suggest it and it is what helped in my FeLV cat!
I would definitely get some DMG for your pupper and see if it also helps as it is an immune regulator and I think with be of great assistance to your dog.

I just found this interesting link about the different treatments for pyoderma

You might want to switch to a sulfa combo (SMZ I beleive is one of them). They are broad spectrum and I know we used these alot in horses. One of my dogs also took one of the sulfa drugs when he had a horrible infection on the end of his tail. I was reading that it is one of the drugs you can use to treat the prostate in dogs .

Hey Cherri-she is on the DMG-I love that stuff! I really credit that with her recovery from the abcess, and Kramer's quick healing from his major surgery. Maybe I could up the dose though-they say it doesn't hurt to have a higher dose if you go over so that is another thing to think about.

That is a great article GS Mom-I like the list of abx, I was getting worried here that Baytril was it and then we were going to be out of luck.

I remember a foster being on SMZ or similar for a pneumonia (along with something else I can't remember.

Thanks again!
