This article was written by Randi Hutter Epstein, MD, who gave her GSD, Dexter, three 600 mg ibuprofen during a 36 hour period and almost killed him.

The article touches on other drugs and foods that can do harm to animals BUT she also states, "And when he has digestive issues, which is fairly frequently, I reach for the Pepcid and Imodium, an over-the-counter antidiarrheal medicine." but she makes no mention of the mdr1 mutant gene problem some herding breeds have, including GSDs, which IMHO is something John Q Public should at least be aware of.

There's also a picture of Dexter ... he's a pretty boy!!!

At least she had the guts to admit her mistake. Thanks goodness she did not kill him, he is a very handsome dog.
