Yesterday morning, Sonny jumped up for a ball and came down awkwardly on his rear right leg. He yelped and limped for a few steps, but by the time he got back to me he was walking fine. I’ve been resting him in the crate since then. When we go out for a brief walk, he looks OK, but I have noticed him subtlety favoring the left leg a couple times. I was thinking I’d rest him for a week and see how he is at the point. Any recommendations?

All depends on the tweak. I usually rest them for 2-3 days if they are limping at all. After that, I go to the vet.

I usually rest for a week and go from there. A couple days of just walking, then I try to limit the over the top high impact stuff after.

Leash only outside, no running, and no jumping on or off couches and beds. After a week even if the dog seems fine continue restricted activity. Our vet said three weeks of this to allow full recovery.
