I know my pup definitely needs more exercise than I'm giving her, especially because she doesn't get backyard time (we live in a small 1 bedroom). I'm going to be taking her to the dog park everyday (not sure for how long yet, probably half an hour to an hour a day) but obviously need to walk her too. So I'm wondering how long you guys walk your puppies everyday. I'm not experienced with big dogs, this is my first one, as my first dog ever was a cocker spaniel (may she rest in peace) and my second is a shih tzu mix, so I'm a little fuzzy on their exercise requirements (I just know they need a lot lol).

Ideally mine gets an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. We do a combo of hikes, dog park (playing fetch & soccer), and neighborhood walks. We also have recently started doing agility classes. On the weekends we do longer hikes if possible. Needless to say, he keeps us busy. I think I've lost weight since we got him... ha!

So when i got Zelda around 4.5 months i took her for walks, i dont remember how long (sorry). And it wasnt enough. So i went for longer walks, but than the next day she was limping a bit...
So i looked it up and somewhere it said 5 minutes for every month. So Zelda is 6 months old. She goes for two walks a day for about 60 minutes. One in the morning and one at night, because it is coolest at that time. And puppies can overheat very easily so make sure you offer lots of fresh water before and after walk.
Also your dog will give you signs as too if its too much or not enough excerise. In the middle of the day i will take her for a short car ride and let her run around on a 50 foot leash for a short period. That is what i do for exercise with Zelda right now! And it seems to be doing her good! :)
Good luck!

Cruz is 6 months now. We try to walk at least once a day. Then play either with a flirtpole or fetch or tug or all the above. Weekends it's twice a day, once in the morning and once in evening. We walk about a mile each time. We have gone farther but it's becomming very hot and very humid and we try to go as early and as late as possible and I always carry water with me for the dog. We play in the middle so we can come right into the airconditioning when we're done. We also in bad weather will go to a pet store to just walk around and socialise. He gets enough stimulation from that and playing tug at home, it wears him out for awhile.
