How can I find out if she is registere with AKC?

My foster, ( Whom I have a feeling my husband is going to keep) is a beauty. I don't have her papers, but I have the owners name and address. ( Tried to call him but phone is disconnected.) Is there anyway I can find out if she is registered with the AKC?
I'd also love to know what breeder she came from. All he said was the Philadelphia area. She is a beauty. ( black and lt.red.) Anyone have an idea where she might be from?

She is stunning....I believe AKC has a program that would allow you to register her with just pics or something like that...I realize that doesn't answer your question but just wanted to add that. If no one here knows, I would think the AKC could answer your question.

I'm sorry I don't know, but I had to say that girl is just beautiful...(what I want to tell you is she is my lost dog and she needs to come home to Texas

I agree she's a pretty girl.

The AKC program you're talking about is called PAL/ILP - PUREBRED ALTERNATIVE LISTING/INDEFINITE LISTING PRIVILEGE!!! Dogs with the PAL/ILP registration can participate in all AKC programs open to GSDs EXCEPT for breed conformation!!! Here's a link that explains how to enroll a dog in that program.

Does she have a tattoo or microchip? If so, you may be able to find out who her breeder is / was and that can get you the information whether she is AKC registered or not.

If you would like to register her, it has to be through the PAL/ILP program that Gayle talked about. It's for purebred dogs that can't get full registration with the AKC, such as purebreds rescued from a shelter or transferred to another owner without the papers.

She wasn't microchipped by her breeder, we chipped her at the shelter when we spayed her.

Yes. He won't let me put her on the website. He is going to keep her. I don't really care if she is registered with AKC or not. More interested in where she came from. She is such a sweetheart and has a great personality!! She must have been beat up by a cat though, because whenever a cat is in the room, she cries. LOL
