He should be eating about 4 cups per day. it sounds like your around 3 cups, but I could be wrong. I hope some other more experienced members chime in. Can you post a picture, as I thought my dog was too thin but after a posting a picture members said he was ok.

Try 1 1/3 short glass per meal, because I think each glass is about 1 cup. each pup is different you will want to see how his body looks. You want to keep him on the lean side. I did see one of your pics, you have a super cute guy there. Cant wait to see more pictures.

Aww he is too cute. he looks fit to me, you might want to keep him at where hes at, just for right now and not take him on such a long walk 20 mins is okay for his age. You dont want him to stress his joints because hes growing. walk him on grass if you can or soft earth. He may just be a piggy eater..LOL... and just always want more, or it could be because he burns so much energy with the hour walks you have been taking him on. I have the opposite with my pup I have to hand feed him to eat all of his dinner. But my guy is lazy so maybe he doesnt need as much...LOL.

There's simply no way to generalize feeding quantities like that without knowing what brand of food. Calories vary greatly between brands, and obviously with a high calorie food you'd use less than with a lower calorie food.

But the best way to determine if you're feeding him the right amount is to look at his overall condition. Is he lean without being overly skinny or is he a little chubby? When you run your hand down his side can you easily feel his ribs without them being overly prominent?

Keep in mind that as he grows you may need to adjust the quantity frequently. He'll need more as he gets bigger up to a point. His growth will start to slow down once he gets over 6 months or so, and then you may need to start cutting back again. A puppy needs as much as 1-1/2 to 2 times as much food as an adult dog of the same weight, so as he nears maturity, even though he'll be much larger than he was as a puppy, he'll be eating less than he did at other stages of his development.
