Hi all!

I've ran across this forum more than a couple of times when googling info about pet food among other things, and now I finally decided to join :D

I have 4 dogs, 3 GSDs (2 adults, 1 puppy, the one in my avatar, hehe) and a toy Poodle.

I hope I can learn a lot from you to take better care of my furry ones! ;):gsdhead:

welcome!!!! love the pup in your avatar! very cute.
Hi Ruth,

Welcome! I just joined today too. I have one 11 year old GSD/Lab/?Corgi girl, who I took in as a foster and just couldn't give up!
I want to try fostering another GSD soon.

Joan
Glad you joined! Your pup is beautiful!
Thank you, KZoppa!
Love your dogs too, I was just looking at your albums. I'm in love of that picture of Zena sleeping on the baby, haha XD

Thanks, Joan! Welcome to you too!

Thank you too, Lesley! I love seeing all your avatars, your dogs are too cute :apple:
Welcome!! Beautiful GSD!! :)
Welcome Ruth! What a coincidence you joined same day someone started a thread about poodles and you've got both! You'll love this place!
Hi, and welcome! I can't wait to hear about your experiences with the toy poodle and the 'big dogs'! My mini-aussie is about 27 pounds so by no means 'small' ... but he's my 'alpha dog' so I have to keep an eye out for who I match him up with house-hold-member wise. He submits to me, and the cat. The cat, of course, runs us all.

Does the toy poodle have any trouble adjusting to the shepherds? Does he/she think they're a big dog? Are there any issues with food or toys? I can't wait to hear more!

Carol
Thank you so much, Pattycakes, CaseysGSD, Deuce, BestK9GSD, GSDAlphaMom, patti, and BluePaws!

(I could have said "thank you all" but I kinda like personalizing )

GSDAlphaMom, I didn't know there was a thread like that! I'll go look for it!

BluePaws, aaah well, I've always said my poodle (Sirius - 10 yrs-old) has a doberman complex. He does think he's a giant fierce dog and he's about 20 pounds. And fluffy, hehe.
He's the only one living inside the house and sleeping in my room. The GSDs are in the backyard, but he LOOOVES playing with my 2 females (Negra - 3 yrs old, and Lulu- 13 months-old). Then again he's some sort of canine womanizer, and flirts with any female in sight, human or canine (I kid you not).
The girls also see him and immediately run to him and give him kisses and all, hehe. Very cute, and the big girl is very protective of him too.

Lulu was the only survivor of her litter, since mom had a miscarriage, but that's another long story. When Lulu was a newborn and had to be separated from her mom, he's the one who helped me babysit her! It was the sweetest thing, he slept next to her and was always by her side. They are still very attached to each other.

He does not get along well at all with my male (Lobo -6 yrs-old) and he's always picking fights with him
Of course, they're never ever together!

No issues at all with food, but mainly because they don't eat together.
The toys... well they're always stealing each others Kong's haha! But they never fight over them, they actually play chasing each other for them.

Wow, I feel like I have a ton more stories about them but I don't think I can remember everything now :)

First of all Welcome!!! I just wanted to ask since you mentioned you have two adult GSDs and one puppy how have they taken to the younger GSD puppy? I am having major behavior problems with my almost 2 yr old male GSD so I am just seeing if anyone else has had issues with an older dog regressing or acting out because of a puppy addition. He is jealous of having to share the attention I believe.
Thanks, mjbgsd! I'm really sorry for your loss, it's never easy :(
I've also lost a toy poodle one year ago and I'm still devastated. I miss her terribly.

Thanks, JustMeLeslie! I'm sorry it took me so long to reply, I hadn't seen the new posts.
Well, there were no problems at all since the puppy is their daughter. If anything, the female (mom) became more protective of the puppy obviously, but also of any small dogs or children. But neither of the adults started acting like puppies at all.
But I'd think your dog might be jealous of the new puppy, as you said it. I'm sorry I didn't help, but I bet someone with more experience on this can give you some advice!
