Just wanted to say hello joined the site today I've been noseying at posts for a few weeks now, since we got our girl anyways, just for wee tips and things.
Would like everybody to meet our baby girl Cora. She's 13 weeks tomorrow.
I'm looking for a bit of advice, she always seems to have soft poop, the food we had from the breeder (Skinners) did it and she wasn't much fussed in eating it either so we switched her to Burns which she absolutely loves and has been on now for about 4 weeks but her bowel movements have never been firm, apart from when she was on specialist food from the vets for a bad bout of the runs. She's still gaining weight and is happy and energetic. Just wondering if we should switch her to something different? which I'm not sure on don't want to be changing her food all the time, but I'm concerned it's not good for her to be having loose stools all the time....

Very cute baby and welcome to the forums! Has she been tested for Giardia or other parasites? I know that can cause soft stool.

We haven't had her tested for that yet no, she's in for a check up on Wednesday so I will probably say to the vet about it again. I did try to explain how I didn't think her poos were right to the vet but she didn't seem too worried since she's not dehydrated or having any other issues. We thought maybe the diet change and having the runs was still working its way through her system but it really should have cleared by now.

Super cute pup. And welcome to the forum. Until my pup was 4-5 months he was on Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy, the stools were always soft. Then we changed to something else (Pro Pac,) his poop was fine ever since. So if your pup passes the fecal test, I'd try a different formula for sure.

The guidelines for the burns food say 100-200g a day for pups between 5-10kg, when she was 7kg we gave her 150g and now she's 9.5kg and she get 200g we also use maybe 25g of it a day for treats, we've been doing that to eliminate the possibility that it's something in the treats that was giving her trouble but shes remained the same the whole time.
