terrible situation especially with pups to nurse . SIBO could be caused by bacterial overgrowth so it is important to settle that out with a probiotic --- but this needs a prebiotic , burdock root, inulin from ground flax seeds, chickory root . Before all this the dog needs a digestive enzyme to break down the food it is eating - so best solution would be a combination digestive enzyme, pre biotic and probiotic .

L-glutamine , an amino acid , helps heal the gut . Available from red meats , eggs , meat "Glutamine is also a critical part of our digestive system. It is the primary nutrient for the cells of the intestinal lining where it helps regulate cellular reproduction. Through this mechanism, glutamine helps prevent and rebuild a leaky gut which is common in people with inflammatory and auto-immune conditions. For this reason glutamine supplementation has been shown to be very effective in individuals with ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, Crohn's disease, & irritable bowel syndrome.

Glutamine also helps regulate cells as they absorb water across the junction between the small intestine and blood stream. This is a very important part of keeping the body from losing fluid and becoming dehydrated. When water is not absorbed back into the body, diarrhea is the result. Diarrhea can be disastrous because we lose both water and other vital nutrients"

The vet is giving B12 shots because the bacterial overgrowth prevents absorption of B's , plus macro and micro nutrients .

The last thing you would want to feed is any food which can ferment --- if giving kibble then at least go grain free.

You can get l glutamine from any health food store.

forgot to add that the very fact that the dog delivered pups and is nursing will make the SIBO more difficult to manage because stress contributes to the problem .
Nursing dogs need a lot of fluid intake to keep the milk flowing . Your dog is loosing lots through the diarrhea.

Get yourself a bag of chicken frames, a stewing hen , necks (good!) and put whatever you have in a stock pot with water to cover the solids . Add a apple cider vinegar which will help draw some of the nutrition , minerals from the bone.
When liquid reduced , remove all bones. Put liquid in fridge . It should jell like a jello. You can give as a liquid by itself , dogs love it , or put spoon fulls into clean water to encourage drinking , or mix into a raw meat ball and give that way .

Pumpkin is okay . Better yet -- slippery elm, or marshmallow root powder , l glutamine , which you can add to the bone-broth once it is cooled or mix into the mince meat .

Carob powder (natural) is very nutritive and anti-diarrheal .
"
Vitamin and Mineral Rich

Carob contains a number of beneficial vitamins include vitamins A, B, B2, B3 and D. It is rich in minerals such as magnesium, iron, phosphorus, manganese and potassium. It is also a good source of fiber and protein. In additional to being naturally cholesterol-free, carob also contains pectin, which lowers cholesterol levels and decreases your risk for heart disease.
Gastrointestinal Aid

Carob treats coughs and may stop serious bouts of diarrhea. Typical remedies include dissolving 1 tbsp. of carob powder into a cup of liquid, such as water, or making a paste of carob powder and water. It may also ease nausea, vomiting and an upset stomach "

that is one of the reasons my supplement has carob as an ingredient .

You can buy it at your health food store . Make sure it is plain , natural . Not as a replacement for chocolate drink - NO sugars or sugar substitutes .

once again this carob can be mixed into the meat ball . You can add all the other things mentioned previously.
