Recently my relative gifted me a puppy which hesaid is a german shepherd. The wet told the same but i am not convinced coz its not blackand tan its fawn colored. Pls help me and tell wether it is a gsd or not

Yes, a purebred German shepherd can be fawn coloured. It is not a preferred colour, as it doesn't conform to the GSD standard, which calls for a black mask on the face and black on the tail (German standard, the American standard is different).

Dogs with lack of mask, light to piercing eye color, as well as with light to whitish markings on the chest and the insides, pale nails and red tip of tail are considered to be lacking in pigmentation.
